[i]dread_iratepir8: My butt hurts...

My Legs are sore and have stopped responding, and I am in a fantastic mood.

Yes, Roller Derby practice has begun for 2010.
Last night Tank'd Girl ran us through Plyometrics. Man-o-man, she kicked our asses. Basically the first half of practice consisted of exercises designed to strengthen our legs, footwork, and general skater stance. I thought my legs were going to fall off.
After that we laced up and did some basic drills for crossovers, and skater stance. Everyone grabbed a Fresh Meat buddy and helped them out as needed. Some of these gals are going to be amazing real soon.
We split up for the last 20 minutes of the evening. The Freshies went to the "Fresh Meat Corral" with [info]bettie_offdead and worked on Falls and skater stance while us Rancid Meat did Pyramids (yay?) I made it all the way through, but oh man that hurt!
After all was said and done we had our first scrimmage. That first jam was reminiscent of my first scrimmage ever. I was a little lost and confised. It didn't take to long to get back into the swing of things, and I got some good hits and booty blocking in. So, I should be back on top of my game sooner than later.

Although my legs are protesting movement (and I had to go down my stairs backwards this morning) I had a great time at practice and cannot wait for Thursday. I missed this... and it amazes me what some hard exercise will do for my mood.

[i]guenpanther: Wind and waves

Last night I could hear the wind coming in huge waves across the hills. There'd be nothing for a few minutes, then off in the distance I could hear this fantastic roaring, which got louder and louder as it approached. When the 'wave' of wind hit the house all the windows creaked and groaned. This went on all night.

I've realized another tree had come down,. It's one from neighbor's yard, and has just missed the back fence.

The back deck has now been shoveled, as has the snow drift directly behind my car. There's another drift across the front of the driveway, will see if the SU-V can power over it. If not then I'm hunkering down until the storm passes.

[i]nimir_ra: Steaming, I now hate the Eagles as a team

Ok. (Im pretty riled up about this)
This is pulled from a press confrence released within the last week.

The Ed Block Courage Award Foundation is an NFL-supported charity dedicated to recognizing
courage in the League while improving the lives of abused/neglected children in NFL cities
throughout the country. The Foundation annually bestows a prestigious Ed Block Courage
Award to a player from each NFL team who, in the eyes of his teammates, exemplifies a
commitment to sportsmanship and courage.

That awesome. sounds wonderful. Help the kids, honor those who go above and beyond to make a life better. Im all over this. Why am I pissed. (If you dont know where this is going, then you might not know me super well.)
For the last 32 years the Ed Block Courage Award has been given to NFL players who have been
selected by their teammates. The rest of the 2009 class includes players such as Shawne
Merriman from the San Diego Chargers, Carnell “Cadillac” Williams from the Tampa Bay
Buccaneers, Brian Dawkins from the Denver Broncos, Phillip Daniels from the Washington
Redskins, Kevin Mawae from the Tennessee Titans, and Michael Vick of the Philadelphia
Eagles.

lol, wut?

Im thinking some emails might be in order. Seriously? What courage has this beast shown? he has yet to be punished properly, I cannot believe he is playing again, and now this?
I do not think I have been so insulted before.

http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/fanzone/contactus.asp
This is the contact for the team, but I cannot figure out what to say. This is the contact means that were given to me by PBRC (pit bull rescue) but I say screw that, lets go for the charity:
For more information, please contact Paul Mittermeier at 410-821-6252 or via email at

[i]wduct40: An interesting take on world religions

"No, Moslems don't believe that Jesus was the messiah.

Think of it like a movie. The Torah is the first one, and the New Testament is the sequel. Then the Qu'ran comes out, and it retcons the last one like it never happened. There's still Jesus, but he's not the main character anymore and the messiah hasn't shown up yet.

Jews like the first movie but ignored the sequels, Christians think you need to watch the first two, but the third movie doesn't count, Moslems think the third one was the best, and Mormons liked the second one so much they started writing fanfiction that doesn't fit with ANY of the series canon.
